Dorene Whitworth

PSCNN Board Member

Dorene is currently retired after working 20+ years for the Nevada Attorney General to develop programs and identify gaps in services throughout the state of Nevada to support victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. She also developed training programs and brought additional funding to Nevada to address abuse against elderly and vulnerable adults. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2017 and immediately recognized that there was very little information readily available to help those with Parkinson's navigate the life changes that comes with this disease. She first became a mentor for the Parkinson's Support Center of Northern Nevada and later joined the board becoming the Coordinator for PSCNN's Mentor Program. The mentor program is critical to helping people with Parkinson's and their caregivers to not feel so isolated as they learn to live with this disease. Dorene's degree in Human Services Management and her years of working with advocacy groups to help those in need has given her a strong foundation for the work she now does for PSCNN.
