'Everything You Need to Know About Caregiving for Parkinson’s Disease'

-by Lianne Marie

Lianna Marie served as her mother’s caregiver and advocate for over 20 years through the many stages of Parkinson’s disease. She founded AllAboutParkinsons.com, an online community that has connected and helped thousands of people with the disease, their families, and their caregivers.

Her first book, Everything You Need to Know About Parkinson’s Disease (2005, revised edition 2015) has been sold in almost fifty countries worldwide, and ranked numerous times on the Amazon bestseller list for books about Parkinson’s. In 2016, Marie followed up on the success of the first book with Everything You Need to Know About Caregiving for Parkinson’s Disease. Both books share the goal of educating and helping everyday people with no specialized training, providing comprehensive information, practical tips, and guidance about how to deal with the emotional toll of the disease.

In October 2020, Marie released two new books, The Complete Guide for People with Parkinson’s Disease and Their Loved Ones, and a newly expanded and revised edition of Everything You Need to Know About Caregiving for Parkinson’s Disease.

Marie speaks frequently to fellow caregivers, guardians, and nurse practitioners. Born and raised near Toronto, Marie now lives with her husband in the Pacific Northwest. She is a member of the Author's Guild and the Pacific Northwest Writers Association. When she’s not writing or speaking, you’ll find her in the swimming pool, training for her next competition. An accomplished athlete, she has medaled internationally while representing Canada in both modern pentathlon and swimming.

Our Northern Nevada's Parkinson's Community member, Joe Carmona, has a book!

Shine The Light on Parkinson's

One of the things that has come out of writing this book is that I feel we should not surrender to
Parkinson and it should not control our everyday activities. We should be more pro-active in fighting
Parkinson in any way we can.

The book will help you prepare or anticipate the symptoms of Parkinson. Educate yourself on all the
subjects on PD to overcome and understand the bumps on the road we face on our journey.

Shine the light on Parkinson is a book that will hopefully motivate not only the ones affected with PD but
the general public to educate themselves on the disease of Parkinson.
